St. Mellion Golf Club - Nicklaus Course
St. Mellion International Resort is set in 450 acres of stunning Cornish countryside. Boasting two golf courses, the Nicklaus and the Kernow, a Golf Shop, and a Golf Academy, it's an idyllic retreat for golfers. When you add the brand-new, 4-Star Hotel to the mix, with it's choice of dining experiences, leisure complex, spa and health club, its easy to see that St. Mellion has something for everyone to enjoy.
Crown Golf, the UK's largest golf course owner/operator, counts St. Mellion International Resort as the most prestigious venue among it's 33 strong group of golf clubs.
The Nicklaus course at St. Mellion International Resort was the first European course personally designed by the 18 times Major winner Jack Nicklaus and was officially opened in 1988.
Even for Mr. Nicklaus, the course is unique, benefitting from the exceptional South West topography. It has its own "Amen Corner", not dissimilar to Augusta, including the signature 11th, a daunting but stunning par 3. The opening drive is a blind shot; only when you reach the brow of the hill and feast your eyes on what lies before you, do you begin to appreciate the thrill that lies ahead.
With towering trees, steep valley sides & the familiar Nicklaus mounding surrounding you as you wind your way along valley floors, up gorse-covered hills, around countless lakes and ponds, past waterfalls and alongside murmuring streams, you can both literally and metaphorically lose yourself in the breathtaking beauty of it all.
But there's a lot more than mere beauty to this golf course, as it's every bit as tough as it is attractive. With comparatively small greens and tight fairways, it certainly can't be overpowered.
There are excellent catering facilities at St. Mellion International Resort. The Bewdern Brasserie, overlooking the magnificent 18th Green on the Jack Nicklaus Course is the ideal venue for golfers to re-live the highlights of their round and to plan their strategy for their next visit.
The Nicklaus Bar is a magnificent golfers '19th'. Marvel at the achievements of golf’s greatest ever player in warm and friendly surroundings and enjoy being an observer of others' efforts on the 18th!
